This kantha quilt is truly enormous, a rare thing to find since kantha quilts were normally made for smaller Indian beds. This super king size one in a mix of vibrant reds, oranges, yellows and black is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, made using three layers of vintage sari fabric hand hand sewn together with thousands of small, tight kantha stitches.

We have these unique, one-of-a-kind super-king size kantha quilts specially made for us by skilled artisans. Newly made vintage kantha quilts are normally about half the size and have looser stitching with fewer threads. With their finer stitching and extra large size ours tick all the boxes for quality, size and uniqueness. Plus each one is completely different since they are all handmade from recycled sari fabric.

This kantha quilt features a dramatic lime orange and black on one side and yellow, white and red patterns on the other, making it completely reversible.

SIZE: 280cm x 225cm (110" x 88")
Shown here on a UK Double bed (US Full) displayed with the shorter edge across the bed. With the longer edge across the bed this will easily fit a UK Super King bed (US King).

As a textile made using vintage fabric, it carries the charm of its past life. Expect small imperfections, patches, and worn areas where the layers of fabric peek through, these are not flaws, but part of its history and character.

This is a one-off design, so when it’s gone, it’s gone!

Handmade in Bangladesh using vintage sari fabric

Materials

100% recycled cotton
Kantha quilts have been made for centuries by artisans in rural India. They are handmade from layers of recycled hand printed sarees which are hand stitched together to create a reversible, one of a kind blanket.
Each one is completely unique and they come in different sizes, thicknesses and qualities.
Some are at least a few generations old and show all the signs of being loved in the past, with gives them a unique texture and softness. Others are more recent but in great condition, with fewer signs of use.
We hand select our kantha quilts for their bright colours, versatile sizes and unique patterns, and photograph them in as much detail as possible so that you can see the beautiful features of each one.
We wash them to remove as many marks as possible, and we will sometimes patch over any large holes using offcuts of kantha quilts, using the same technique as the original artisans would have.
